Information: Éva Ispánné Péter, +36 32 379-273, 30 289-1946

Cherishing traditions includes the revival of old folk trades, and this is the purpose for which a Weaving House has been opened to the public in the village. The artisans' courses are especially offered to guests and groups of students who spend several days in Hollókő. The available courses are the following (broken down to age groups):

A) from 3-4 years of age:

  • Puppetry with agricultural products (appr. 50 minutes), HUF 300 / person (max. 20 persons)
  • Decorating gingerbread cakes (appr. 40 minutes), HUF 350 / person (max. 25 persons)

B) from 6-6 years of age:

  • Knitting simple patterns (appr. 1 hour), HUF 350 / person (max. 15 persons)

C) from 11-12 years of age:

  • Weaving strings (appr. 2 hours), HUF 600 / person (max. 12 persons)
  • Weaving cards (appr. 2.5-3 hours), HUF 800 / person (max. 10 persons)
  • Weaving on an upright weaving frame (min. 5-6 hours), HUF 2.500 / hour (max. 6 persons)

The puppetry with agricultural products can be combined with a walk along the study trail, during which the participants get acquainted with the geological and geographical features of the Hollókő Landscape Protection Area, its typical flora and fauna, and collect "raw materials" for the puppetry.

Charges for a guided tour (appr. 1.5-2 hours): HUF 5,000 / group (max. 20-25 persons).

Advice: If children can only spend one day in Hollóko, on account of the shortage of time the recommended courses are the "decoration of gingerbread cakes" and "knitting simple patterns".

The products of courses can be taken home.

The courses are only provided when they are ordered in advance.
